My preferred first step in beginning a therapeutic relationship with a client is to schedule a 20 minute in-person consultation to explore if we are a therapeutic fit for each other.

This gives us an opportunity to meet each other and dialogue about expectations, needs, goals, and to ask any questions you have. Please consider what your goals for therapy are and any questions you would like answered in anticipation of the consultation. This is a time for you to take the space you need to decide if you would like to work therapeutically together.  We will not move too deeply into discussion of what you are seeking therapy for as this is not a therapy session. Those conversations are best had within the safety of the therapeutic relationship during a full therapy session.
